A Bit of a Briefing re Health and Regulations

Numerous companies think that, if all of their staff have enough health & safety training, they now have all the knowledge necessary to cope with a disaster. The truth is however, basic education in safety legislation and risk asessment just is not sufficient. Equipping your employees, hiring good supervision and supporting regular drills are fundamental to the safety at work. A team supervisor has a larger purpose to carry out than just general supervision. Your selection of supervisor needs to see their health & safety training as fundamental and be able to get everyone else feeling enthusiastic.

As well as following all of the rules and regulations, the function of a supervisor also usually includes supervising staff performance levels. This is not a simple task. Excellent business knowledge is an essential in a supervisory role in addition to a very high standard of understanding of current legislation regarding safety, risk assessment and CPR. It just is not enough to supply your employees with health & safety instruction. They need to get practical experience of risk assessment and the recognition of problem areas. They have to understand the best method of eradicating safety risks not to mention how to act if the unexpected happens. Not until these processes become a habit are workers properly protected.

Instruction is by all accounts useless without the necessary safety equipment. If they are missing equipment that is needed, or find that supplies are broken only after an emergency has occurred, then all the training there is to offer is not going to help them. You must make regular inspections to ascertain if you possess everything you require and to ensure it’s working correctly as well. When your equipment doesn’t come up to the pertinent criteria, ensure that it’s sorted out ASAP and returned to the right place.

Your employees must have appropriate health and safety instruction, however they need the right equipment, regular practise drills, and a knowledgeable supervisor who can get staff charged up about working safely. If you put these ideas into practice you should find that health & safety legislation will before long become a part of everyone’s working habits and no longer something troublesome everyone has to make an effort to remember constantly.
